Since 1977, Sarah has been using time honored traditional metalsmithing techniques to create her contemporary yet earthy wearable art. Every piece she makes comes from great pride and crafts(wo)manship and an absolute love of creating.
Her current favorite materials include sterling silver, steel, recycled glass beads and rocks. One of her silver suppliers only uses reclaimed metals so no mining or further destruction of the planet takes place. She uses scrap steel whenever it is available. Many of the beads Sarah uses are handcrafted in Ghana, Africa from recycled glass.
Rock hunting is a passion of hers so she is thrilled to include rocks in her pieces. Light colored rocks were mainly found ih her home town on the shores of Lake Michigan in Evanston Illionois. Many of the black rocks were collected from Kodiak Alaska beaches. Arizona is a rock hunter paradise! Her current focus is on the Sedona red rocks. She loves to explore the plentiful dry creek beds in Arizona, where the small rounded sandstone are found.
Many of her designs include ancient symbolism; including goddesses, spirals, suns and moons. Symbols can be inspiring and empowering reminders and therefore give powerful energy. Therefore she only uses what she believes to be positive images.
Sarah's intent as a jeweler is to create a well-crafted, cool looking and affordable piece of wearable art.
